Coverage

High Value Jewelry and Art

Fine art, jewelry, watches and collections in transit and on exhibition.

Overview

Atlas insures fine art, sculpture, antiquities, jewelry, gemstones, watches, rare books and collectors' objects on a nail-to-nail all-risk basis, from the moment an object is taken off the wall or out of the safe until it is reinstalled at destination.

We work with fine art shippers, galleries, auction houses, museums, jewelers and private collectors, and we underwrite around the crate specification, courier arrangements and installation method.

What the policy covers

Nail-to-nail transit
De-installation, condition reporting, crating, transport, customs inspection, unpacking, condition check and reinstallation at destination.
Exhibition and loan periods
Cover while on display at a museum, gallery, fair or client premises under a loan agreement, including outward and return legs.
Depreciation and loss of value
Diminution in value following restorable damage, assessed by an agreed independent expert.
Theft, robbery and disappearance
Theft from vehicle, hotel safe, premises or courier, and mysterious disappearance subject to agreed handling protocols.
Defective packing and handling
Damage from crating failure, vibration, shock, climate excursion and mishandling by installers and riggers.
Titled sets and collections
Pairs, sets, suites and collection-wide valuation so a single loss is measured against the whole.

Frequently asked questions

High Value Jewelry and Art — eligibility and what we need

Who is eligible for jewellery and fine art transit cover?

Private collectors, galleries, auction houses, museums, dealers and jewellers moving items with a declared value of $100,000 or more using approved fine art or secure logistics specialists.

What documentation is required?

A schedule of items with values, appraisals or auction records dated within the last three years, condition reports and photographs, packing and crating specifications, and the named art logistics or secure courier agent.

How is a partial loss or damage settled?

Restoration by an approved conservator is arranged first, and the policy also pays any documented loss of market value that remains after restoration, up to the agreed value of the item.

Are exhibitions and loans covered?

Yes. Nail-to-nail cover can be written for loans and exhibitions, including transit both ways, on-site handling, installation, display and return.

Do you cover items carried personally?

Hand-carried jewellery can be covered subject to a courier protocol, dual custody where values require it, and hotel or bank safe deposit while at rest.
