Coverage
High Value Monetary Instruments
Currency, bullion, bearer paper and negotiables in secured transit.
Overview
Banknotes, coin, bullion, bearer bonds, certificates, stamps, precious metals and other negotiable instruments demand a specie form, not a standard cargo form. Atlas writes vault-to-vault cover for central banks, private banks, cash-in-transit operators, refiners and family offices.
Every risk is underwritten around the security programme: crew vetting, escort profile, route selection, seal protocol and vault standards. Where the programme is strong, our terms reflect it.
What the policy covers
- Vault-to-vault transit
- Cover from the moment consignment leaves the sending vault until it is checked into and receipted by the receiving vault.
- Armed robbery and hijack
- Loss by hold-up, hijack, ambush, forced diversion and theft of vehicle or container with contents.
- Infidelity and mysterious disappearance
- Employee infidelity of the carrier's staff and unexplained shortage discovered at seal-intact count, subject to agreed count procedures.
- Air and courier carriage
- Commercial air freight, chartered aircraft and vetted international secure courier movements, including airside handling and bonded holding.
- Vault and premises exposure
- Optional extension while consignments are held at intermediate cash centres, refineries or processing sites.
- Reconstitution costs
- Cost of replacing, reissuing or advertising lost certificates and instruments, including legal cost of obtaining a duplicate.
